Purpose

At WeDo Content, delivering social value is at the heart of everything we do. As a communications agency specialising in working with purpose led organisations, we are dedicated to increasing the positive impact of our clients and our own operations. This policy outlines our commitment to creating meaningful social value through various initiatives focusing on community engagement, environmental sustainability, diversity and inclusion, local economy impact, and ethical sourcing.

1. Our Commitment to Social Mobility and Employment Opportunities

WeDo Content is committed to increasing social mobility by investing 10% of our post-tax profits to support individuals who face additional barriers to work in securing employment within the communications industry. As a newly formed business, we recognise that these activities will scale as our business grows.

Initially, we will support established social enterprises such as Socially Mobile, which focuses on helping individuals develop the skills and connections needed for a career in communications. Over time, we aim to create our own flagship initiative, the WeDo Content Communications Academy, dedicated to the development of skills and capabilities for those facing barriers to employment. The academy will provide practical work experience, helping individuals gain the qualifications and real-world exposure needed to secure roles in communications. We will actively engage with employers and beneficiaries to align them with our mission and to support best practices in inclusive employment.

2. Community Engagement

WeDo Content is dedicated to actively engaging with the communities in which we operate. Our community engagement initiatives include:

• Volunteering Days: We encourage our direct employees and associates to participate in volunteering activities. Each employee is entitled to take up to two paid days per year for volunteering. These days can be dedicated to local community projects, educational programs, or supporting social enterprises aligned with our values.

• Pro-Bono Support: We will offer pro-bono communications services to purpose led organisations and social enterprises that work to create a positive impact in their communities, a recent example is supporting the Institute of Small Business and Entrepreneurship pro bono support to increase the influence that their research has on policy and practice.

3. Environmental Sustainability

We recognise the importance of sustainability and are committed to minimising our environmental footprint. Our approach includes:

• Carbon Reduction: We strive to reduce our carbon footprint through sustainable work practices such as using digital solutions to minimise travel and implementing energy efficient practices in our offices.

• Waste Reduction: We minimise the use of  physical marketing materials and prioritise digital first communications wherever possible.

• Green Supply Chain: We work with suppliers and partners who demonstrate a commitment to sustainable and environmentally friendly practices.

4. Diversity and Inclusion

• Inclusive Recruitment: We aim to attract talent from all backgrounds, providing equal opportunities and focusing on inclusive recruitment practices.

• Representation in Communications: We strive to reflect the diversity of the communities we serve in our communications, ensuring that all voices are heard and represented.

WeDo Content is registered in South Tyneside, one of the most deprived areas in the country, and we are committed to supporting the local economy by:

• Local Employment: We prioritise hiring locally and working with local suppliers to contribute to the economic development of the communities in which we operate, many of our associates are from South Tyneside. .

• Support for Small Businesses: WeDo Content offers discounted services to social enterprises to help them grow and create local employment opportunities.

6. Ethical Sourcing

WeDo Content is dedicated to ethical sourcing in all areas of our business. This includes:

• Supplier Standards: We work with suppliers who share our commitment to ethical practices, including fair wages, safe working conditions, and sustainable sourcing - this is embedded in our values.
